August Update And First Friday!

August promises to be a busy month at Walrus!

On Aug 2nd from 6-9 we have First Friday in the Alley and a reception for Holly Wach, a talented painter from New York supplanted to Oakland. Come join us for the usual wine and nosh to see her work and chat with Walrus ladies!

Here's a sneak preview of some of her beautiful work.

We also have few new products at Walrus this month, including Catsanova bowties, a line of cat and small dog bowties and peter pan collars handmade from vintage fabrics by Wendy's talented sister-in-law, Nancy Casanova.

We'll be running a contest on First Friday to name our new in-store dog model. Prize for winner!

Even Jack from the Alley tried one of the new bowties and looked very dapper!

We also have new handmade upcycled fabric barrettes and hair accessories from goRoco created by Morgan Roquette.

We've been having tons of fun teaching painting workshops! We are teaching a private furniture painting workshop for HowAboutWe... for couples coming up on Sunday August 18 from 3-5:30pm in the Alley. So if you're a couple seeking a unique date and want to learn about furniture upcycling Walrus style, then check this one out!

Best of the LAST WORKSHOP held on July 28 2013 included:

Vintage fame from Walrus collection painted with Graphite color chalk paint and waxed to hang cow skull!

IKEA hack: stool painted with Graphite and  feet dipped in Barcelona Orange chalk paint.

Last but not least, we are going to the Alameda Antiques Fair on SUNDAY AUG 4 from 6am-3pm! Come see us in BOOTH J12! We'll be selling all sorts of new vintage aquistions such as Army metal cases and racks, 1950's tiki bamboo and gold living room set, mid-Century modern dressers, and MORE!
