1950s Tubular Metal, Wood-Topped Cart--SOLD on craigslist
This diminutive cart from the 1950s is built in the style of Mathieu Mategot. Casters are attached to the legs and there is a small curved towel bar which extends outward. We had to re-attach the wood top to the cart which we did with tasteful metal hardware only visible on the underside of the wood. We often redo pieces like this, choosing to paint and/or refinish, but we felt that this piece is too special to touch (aside from a minor repair). We often talk about the value of patina, and this little cart certainly has its share of it, making the cart feel like a merging of mid century and rustic/industrial.
Measures: 24.5" tall with 24" x 12" wood top
Wire grate shelf is at 5" high and is 14.5" square
Towel bar hangs 2" under wood top at 10" wide, it extends 5.5" to edge of wood top
This item is now available for purchase for $46 plus S&H in our etsy shop:
